Initiative for Mumbai Election Day!
Maharashtra! A place where the richest man in India resides and where no. of Farmers’ suicides is highest. Some districts suffer from severe droughts, lasting years. People walk kilometers in search of water. Mumbai is the capital of Maharashtra. Despite being the financial capital of the world’s largest democracy, this city also suffers with water shortage in summertime. Millions of residents experience the shortcomings of it.
Another crisis is the apathy of voters towards casting their votes in the elections. There were over 80 lac eligible voters registered from 6 parliamentary constituencies from Mumbai. Based on previous data, only 52% of which were expected to cast their votes in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. As the city was getting ready to vote on 29th April, we at Street Talk, decided to send across a message emphasizing on the importance of voting. We chose BEST buses, the lifeline of Mumbai as a medium to create awareness about this issue and convey our message. One vote has the power to change the lives of millions of people around.
